There is a tradition of certain age (nineteenth-century?) that fairies dwelt in the brook at Beck Gill, a gill that came to be known as the Fairy Dell. These two postcards seem to show either end of the Dell. Is that a footbridge in the second photograph in the background, perhaps that shown on the map? Any photos gratefully received!
